Stand Strong for CASA During NWA Gives
Right now, children in foster care are counting on you more than ever before! Federal funding cuts are eliminating $291,000 from our planned budget. YOU can bridge the gap for the kids who rely on CASA!
CASA of NWA, along with many other victim service agencies, relies on Victims of Crime Act (VOCA) funds to provide vital services. These funds primarily come from fines and penalties paid by federal criminal offenders. However, a decrease in federal criminal prosecutions has led to a significant reduction in available VOCA funds.
Two years ago, VOCA funding in Arkansas dropped from $25 million to just $7 million—a staggering $18 million loss. For the past two years, the Governor provided temporary gap funding, ensuring that every victim service program received some level of support.
This year, that additional funding is unlikely to be available, leaving only $7 million to support EVERY victim service agency across the state.
For CASA of NWA, this means a devastating $291,000 cut—directly affecting our program team and the dedicated volunteers who advocate for children in foster care. As a result, nearly 700 children, teens, and young adults in NWA could face reduced support during some of the most critical times in their lives.
Your generosity on NWA Gives Day will help ensure that every child in foster care has a dedicated CASA volunteer—someone to stand by their side, speak up for their needs, and remind them that they are never alone.
